H Ελένη Θεοδώρου είναι διδάκτωρ των Κοινωνικών Βάσεων της Εκπαίδευσης του Πανεπιστημίου της Virginia των Ηνωμένων Πολιτειών Αμερικής. Έχει εργαστεί μεταξύ 2002-2004 ως εκπαιδευτικός και από το 2009 διδάσκει στο Τμήμα Επιστημών της Αγωγής του Ευρωπαϊκού Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου. Οι περιοχές ενδιαφέροντός της περιλαμβάνουν θέματα κοινωνιολογίας και ανθρωπολογίας της εκπαίδευσης. Συγκεκριμένα το ερευνητικό της έργο εστιάζει σε θέματα ταυτότητας παιδιών, κοινωνικής κατασκευής της παιδικής ηλικίας, διαπολιτισμικής εκπαιδευτικής πολιτικής, επαγγελματικής ταυτότητας των εκπαιδευτικών και οικογενειακής εμπλοκής, όπως αυτά εξετάζονται κυρίως μέσα από ποιοτικές προσεγγίσεις. Εργασίες της έχουν δημοσιευτεί σε έγκριτα διεθνή περιοδικά και σε βιβλία.
