Research

Outline of research interests:

My research work is divided to three major areas as follows:
  1. Flexible systems, Innovation Management and enterpreneurship in Small and Medium Size enterprises. (SMEs)
  2. Strategic Management. Integration of Technologies and Human Resources issues.
  3. Modelling managerial and environmental problems.
(a) Flexible systems, Innovation Management and enterpreneurship in Small and Medium Size Enterprises (SMEs)
The role of technology and Innovation management in achieving improved manufacturing performance and competitiveness has been receiving increased attention as enterprises are becoming more exposed to competition from around the world. My special research interests addresses the question of how the diffusion, implementation and management of technology as well as innovation can improve the performance of organizations. It centres on the systematic examination of the competitiveness of the SMEs with special emphasis on the role of innovation and technology.

(b) Strategic Planning, Technology and Human Resources Development
The correct matching of Strategies technology and people gives the correct framework for the achievement of competitive advantage. My special research interests concentrates on the strategic engagement of Strategic Planning and how the Management of Technology and Human issues can build a competitive advantage
through the correct cascaded linking with Strategic objectives.

All the above issues are under examination in my research work with case reference the Cyprus Economy.

As an Associate professor at Cyprus College and Visiting Professor at the Arkansas State University I have under my supervision many Graduate projects examining all those issues considering cases from the Cyprus Economy.

(c) Modelling managerial and environmental problems
One of the research interests that has been explored in the last years is the modelling of management problems and using those models in the decision making process. A major project that is funded by the Research promotion foundation is central to this attempt. The aim of the project is to present the fire situation in Cyprus and introduce a novel risk assessment methodology, in order to promote loss prevention in the Cypriot industry. New models of fire growth were introduced and risk assessment on model industrial areas was performed.

Other Research Activities
