Profile
Dr. George Pavlou is an Assistant Professor at the School of Humanities and Social Sciences of the European University Cyprus, where he teaches a variety of communication courses since 2002. He holds a BA in Urban and Regional Studies from Ball State University (USA), an MA in Radio and Television from Ball State University (USA), and a PhD in Communication and Mass Communication from Wayne State University (USA). Prior to his position at the European University Cyprus he was the Academic Dean of Europa College in Nicosia, Cyprus. Before his arrival to Cyprus he held a position at the University of Texas at Dallas. He taught at Wayne State University and several other colleges in the United States, from 1980-1989. In 1988 he was an Assistant Professor at the American College of Southeastern Europe in Athens and an Adjunct Professor at the University of LaVerne in Athens, respectively. Between 1975 and 1992 he was also involved in a variety of communications and media projects for several companies/organizations in the United States. His areas of interest in research include communication, mass communication and film. He is particularly interested in doing research on D.W.Griffith and his films. George has presented his work in international conferences and published relevant papers. He is a member of the International Communication Association (USA), the Cyprus Academic Forum (CAF) in Cyprus, and ATINER (Athens Institute for Education and Research).
