Governance
Council
The Council of the University is the supreme governing body of the University and has the custody and use of the Common Seal and is be responsible for the management and administration of the revenue and property of the University and, subject to the powers of the Senate, has general control over the conduct of the affairs of the University.
The Council, according to the Law on Private Universities of 2005 (s. 25.(1)), “is the supreme governing body of the University and is responsible for the management of all affairs pertaining to the University, including the financial affairs, the affairs pertaining to the infrastructure of the University, the supervision and control of the administrative and other personnel, the determination of the number of students to be admitted, the individual administrative matters of students, and approves the hiring of faculty members that is conducted by the Senate.”

The President of the Council appointed by A.S. Cyprus College Ltd for a period of five years.

Three members from outside the university academic community and three members from the non-academic community appointed by the Board of Directors of A.S. Cyprus College Ltd. for a period of four years. One of them is designated by A.S. Cyprus College Ltd as Vice President of the Council.

Two members from outside the University community appointed by the Senate for a period of four years.

One faculty member elected (by simple majority) by all faculty members from among their own number for a period of three years, according to the Internal Regulations and Guidelines on Election Procedures (Annex 17).

One member of the non-teaching (administrative) staff elected (by simple majority) by the members of the non-teaching (administrative) staff from among their own number for a period of three years, according to the Internal Regulations and Guidelines on Election Procedures (Annex 17).

One registered student of the University, who shall be elected (by simple majority) by the members of the Students' Union during the annual meeting of the Students’ Union from among their own number for a period of one year.

It is understood that the number of the independent Council members (i.e. independent from the Board of the Founding Organization (A.S. Cyprus College Ltd)) shall always be bigger than 50% of the total number of the members of the Council.
