Приветственное обращение главы Университета

As an inevitable aspect of human nature and culture, change informs all our lives. In 2007 an educational vision of over 45 years culminated in the evolution of Cyprus College to European University Cyprus. In an increasingly competitive world, a good education is one of the most important assets a person can have. Millions of people around the world strive towards earning a university degree expecting that this will open the door to professional success. University degrees aim at providing students with the necessary knowledge and skills that will enable graduates to become successful professionals. At European University Cyprus, we aim to offer students the opportunity to work towards achieving their professional dreams as well as open up the space for personal growth.

It is not the aim of education merely to award degrees, as many believe. The aim of education is to create well-rounded, thinking individuals who face the challenges of the professional world in an informed manner and who see themselves not as passive members of society and mere consumers of culture but as its active participants and creators. Our university’s dedication to offering quality education is concomitant to our commitment to academic research and our contribution to the social community of which we are a vibrant nucleus. Education is an ongoing process, one at which we do not all arrive having started from the same direction; it has no age limit or societal preconditions. With a focus on the needs and potential of the students we aim to provide a space which is conducive to creativity and knowledge; to instil values that will be carried into the workplace and create socially responsible individuals; to nurture respect for oneself and others and to create involved citizens.

A university is, more than an organisation, a living organism which grows and develops and reflects the dreams and aspirations of those it is made up of— its academics, its administration, its students. A university education should be an enriching and fulfilling experience, an exchange of learning and an opportunity to challenge established beliefs and nurture innovative ideas. This has been our aspiration and dream; this is what we want to share with you.
