Researchers Night 2016

European University Cyprus at “Researchers Night 2016”

European University Cyprus is once again a proud supporter of the “Researchers Night”, an event organized by the Research Promotion Foundation (RPF) in collaboration with academic and research institutions as well as other stakeholders in Cyprus.

The event is an initiative of the European Commission and takes place simultaneously in almost all European countries.

You are invited to join us for the "Researcher's Night 2016" at the FILOXENIA International Conference Centre in Nicosia on the 30th of September 2016, 17:00 – 00:00 (Free Entrance), for an engaging event, filled with music, games, experiments dedicated to science and research

The multidisciplinary and numerous team of European University Cyprus researchers will present their work and inform the public about the role and importance of research, in a festive and friendly atmosphere. At the same time, participants will have the opportunity to engage in hands-on experiments and become researchers for one night!

The European University Cyprus researchers will run the following activities:

  • Oversee your Body Exercise with Soul Inspiration and Targeting the Youth-OBESITY: Educational activity for all ages on healthy diet. Under the supervision of Dr. Elpida-Niki Emmanouel Nikoloussi (Stand 21)
  • Having Fun with Mathematics and Science: Interactive games and experiments in Mathematics and science for all ages. Under the supervision of Dr. Chrystalla Papadimitri-Kahrimani and Dr. Lucas Luca. (Stand 62)
  • The Magic World of Science:  Engaging Science activities for children 8-12 years old, under the supervision of Dr. Lucas Luca. (Stand 63)
  • Take time to play with your children!: interactive play techniques for parents and children under the supervision of Dr. Monica Shiakou (Stand 69)
  • Technology for all! Take the challenge!: Presentation of assistive technologies for people with disabilities, under the supervision of Dr. Katerina Mavrou (Stand 49)
  • “Every word counts”: Activities for parents and children for enhancing speech abilities in children. Under the supervision of Dr. Louiza Voniati (Stand 67)
  • Exploring Our Universe: Interactive exploration of the mysteries of our universe (galaxies, black holes, exoplanets etc.) under the supervision of Dr. Andreas Efstathiou. (Stand 6)
  • BREAK THE CHAIN – IT’S A GAME: Entertaining presentation on the chain of infection and the steps need to protect from viruses. Under the supervision of Dr. Mary Eleftheriadou. (stand 64)
  • “The paradox of obesity on cardiovascular disease” a presentation with pictures by Dr. Theodoros Xanthos. Kerynia Hall, 17:00
