Non-EU Students

Undergraduate Students

The general admissions requirement for all European University Cyprus undergraduate programs is the successful completion of secondary education with an average grade of C or above. International students must submit the documents listed below, in electronic form to admit@euc.ac.cy, at least three months prior to the beginning of their first semester. Please note, all documents are required, in order to comply with immigration regulations.

  • Proof of English proficiency (if any)*

 

*Proficiency in English is not a requirement for admission to European University Cyprus. However, applicants whose native language in not English may be required to take the University’s English Placement Test (EPT). Candidates whose English is below the required standard will be offered additional English-language classes.

 

Exemption from English Placement Test (EPT)  

Applicants are exempt from the English Placement Test (EPT) if they have one of the following:

 

TOEFL score of at least 550 (213 computer-based, 79 internet-based)

English IGCSE with grade C or above

IELTS with a score of 6.5 or above

 

Other external exams may also be accepted by the English Department as equivalent. Consult the Office of Admissions for further details. 

Medical/Dental Students

  1. Completed Application Form
    Applicants may apply online here. The application form may also be obtained either in person from the Office of Admissions, The completed application form together with a non-refundable application fee of €52 must be sent to the Director of Admissions, PO Box 22006, 1516 Nicosia, Cyprus. 
  2. Academic Records
    Applicants must submit an official copy of their high school leaving certificate (‘Apolyterion’ or its equivalent, such as GCE A’ Level, IB etc.) and marksheet of their secondary school record together with the application. To be considered for admission, candidates must have an average grade of 18 or above (90% percentage grade or its equivalent) on their high school leaving certificate. All applicants will need to have passed Biology plus one more subject either in Chemistry, Maths or Physics. The University reserves the right to consider applicants coming from other systems of education considered as equivalent to the Apolyterion or GCE A’ level, IB qualifications. 
  3. Holders of a Bachelor Degree
    Candidates who are holders of a Bachelor Degree from a recognized university in a relevant field can be considered for admission.
  4. Proficiency in English Language
    Candidates will need to have passed the GCSE or IGCSE with a grade of ‘C’ or above or IELTS with a grade of 6.5 or TOEFL with a score of 213 (550 paper based, 79-80 internet based) or other equivalent English examination.
  5. Interview  
    • Medicine
      All eligible candidates will be invited for interview in Cyprus. In some cases, the University may be able to conduct an interview online. The interview process is rigorous and thorough. Applicants should be prepared to discuss their personal motivation to study medicine, their hobbies and personal interests, as well as providing evidence of their academic credentials.
    • Dentistry
      The University reserves the right to conduct interviews of applicants to strengthen the selection process, when necessary.
  6. Voluntary Work
    Voluntary work undertaken in a hospital or residential care facility or dental care will be taken in to consideration.
  7. Academic Reference/ Letter of Recommendation
    Applicants must provide an academic reference/letter of recommendation from a teacher or lecturer. The reference must be certified by the school or university with which the referee is affiliated. The reference must be sent directly to the Office of Admissions or by email to M.Alexandrou@euc.ac.cy
  8. Personal Statement
    All candidates must submit a personal statement written in English. This personal statement should outline details of previous education, experience and interests, as well as the candidate’s career goals and motivation to study medicine or dentistry.
  9. Confirmation of Offer
    Selected candidates will need to confirm acceptance of the offer within one week of admission notification. Confirmation will require a down payment against tuition of €4,750. The remaining amount will be settled in three equal instalments of €4,750 in December, January and April respectively.

 

Conditional admission
Candidates who have successfully completed the first term of their final year of high school (lyceum) and satisfy all requirements for admission (see points 1-7) may apply for conditional admission. Successful candidates will be offered conditional admission which will require the fulfillment of all admission conditions and in particularly the final grade on the high school leaving certificate  (Lyceum) or GCE A-Level/International Baccalaureate (IB) results.

Master Students

The general admission requirement for graduate programs is the successful completion of a Bachelor degree at a recognized institution, or its equivalent (professional qualifications).  International students will need to submit the following documents to the Office of Admissions at least two months prior to the beginning of the semester in order to be admitted to the university:

Visa Requirements

All international, non-European Union students need to obtain a visa to study in Cyprus. After receiving a letter of acceptance from the Office of Admissions, students must apply for a visa by submitting the documents listed below to the University (Office of Admission’s International Office, P.O. Box 22006, 1516, Nicosia, Cyprus) in English, at least three months prior to the beginning of the semester.

 

  • Certified copy of relevant academic records in English
    • Undergraduate students - certified copy of High School Leaving Certificate and grade marksheet
    • Master students - certified copy of Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university, or certified copies of professional      qualifications
    • PhD students - certified copy of Bachelor and Master degree
  • Certified copy of a valid passport, valid for a minimum of two (2) years
  • Original letter attesting to good conduct, issued by the police authorities in the student’s country of citizenship, confirming a clear  criminal record. The letter of good conduct should be issued no more than 6 months before the date of submission of documents for Visa approval.
  • Original health certificates for HIV, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and syphilis, in addition to chest X-ray report (for tuberculosis). Health certificates should be issued no more than 4 months before the date of submission of documents for Visa approval and must be issued only from public hospitals.
  • Original bank letter and recent bank statement confirming that the student or sponsor (parent(s)/guardian(s)) has sufficient funds to finance the student’s fees and living expenses in Cyprus. The amount indicated on the bank letter and bank statement must be equivalent to at least €7,000. The bank letter should be issued no more than 6 months before the date of submission of documents for Visa approval whilst the bank statement must show the transactions of the last two months.

 

 

Student visa

Your application for admission to European University Cyprus is subject to approval by the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Cyprus Migration Office. Student visas are issued in Cyprus. Upon the Migration Office’s approval, the original copy of the Temporary Student Visa will be sent to successful applicants by the Office of Admissions. A Temporary Residence Permit (Pink Slip) will be issued after students arrive at European University Cyprus and complete all necessary admission, registration and payment requirements. International students holding a student visa must be enrolled for full-time study. Different attestations of the above documents are required, depending on your country of citizenship.

Payments

Down payment of fees

In order to qualify for a student visa, all international students admitted to European University Cyprus must also submit a minimum payment to the University of:

€4,178 - Undergraduate students

€3,158 - Master students

€5,228 - PhD students

Payment should be made to the Office of Admissions via bank transfer**, or online at jccsmart.com or Flywire. The Cyprus Migration Department will NOT accept applications for student visa if the University is unable to present evidence of payment.

 

An additional immigration charge of approximately €160 is payable by the student, in cash, upon arrival in Cyprus.

A Temporary Residence Permit (Pink Slip) will be issued after students arrive at European University Cyprus and complete all necessary admission, registration, and payment requirements.

 

Note: Upon arrival students will need to open a bank account in Cyprus and deposit the total amount of at least €5,000

 

Tuition fees vary according to program of study. Final adjustments to tuition fees will be made after the student registers at European University Cyprus. Any balance will be set off against the next semester’s fees. No refund will be given for any credit balance.

Refund policy

A student who fails to register because he/she has not completed the process of admission or was refused a Cyprus entry visa is entitled to a refund, provided the Office of the Registrar is notified in writing. An administrative charge of €175 will be deducted, covering visa and bank expenses.

 

A student who fails to register and does not enter Cyprus, even though an entry visa was issued, is entitled to a refund provided the Office of the Registrar is notified in writing. An administrative charge of €175 will be deducted, covering visa and bank expenses, as well as the International Student Guarantee of €342.

Arrival checklist

When entering Cyprus (Larnaca or Paphos International Airport) all international students should also have the following with them, to ensure entry to the country:

 

  1. The original (or copy) Entry Permit – Blue Slip, issued by the Migration Authorities of Cyprus
  2. The receipts (or copies) indicating total payments of visa and registration/tuition fees to European University Cyprus
  3. Official bank receipts from the bank in your country to prove the transfer of payment to the university
  4. Cash in hand of at least Euro €2,000 to cover personal expenses (meals, books, accommodation, etc)
  5. Acceptance letter from the Office of Admissions
  6. A valid passport
