Academic Publications from EUC faculty
In recent months we have seen further improvement of the research backed academic output of the University, with numerous significant papers and citations in various academic fields. For instance, highly cited articles include those authored by Assistant Professor Dr. Panagiotis Papageorgis (Biology) “Role of TGFβ in regulation of the tumor microenvironment and drug delivery”, International Journal of Oncology (co-authored) and “TGF β signaling in tumor initiation, epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition, and metastasis” at the Journal of Oncology; as well as the article co-authored by Professor Maria Meletiou-Mavrotheris (Education) and Dr Efi Paparistodemou – “Developing students’ reasoning about samples and sampling in the context of informal inferences” in the Journal Educational Studies in Mathematics.
Moreover, Professor Theodoros Xanthos, a newly arrived faculty member of EUC’s School of Medicine co-authored important guidelines on Temperature Management After Cardiac Arrest: An Advisory Statement by the Advanced Life Support Task Force of the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation and the American Heart Association Emergency Cardiovascular Care Committee and the Council on Cardiopulmonary, Critical Care, Perioperative and Resuscitation.
Additionally, according to the metrics of the journal Educational Review, the article "Modeling-based learning in science education: cognitive, metacognitive, social, material and epistemological contributions", co-authored by EUC's Chair of the Department of Education Sciences, Associate Professor Loucas T. Louca was one of the journal's most highly cited article for the year 2012.
Associate Professor Dr. Mary Eleftheriadou (Microbiology), co-authored in collaboration with Harvard based academics the article “Optimization of a nanotechnology based antimicrobial platform for food safety applications using Engineered Water Nanostructures (EWNS)” in the Nature Group’s 'Scientific Reports'.
Professor Spyros Spyrou of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences published the article “Researching children’s silences: Exploring the fullness of voice in childhood research” in the February 2016 issue of the Journal “Childhood”.
Lastly, EUC’s School of Law Associate Professor Dr. Iacovos Kareklas authored the article “Just Wars for self-determination” (Δίκαιοι Πόλεμοι για Αυτοδιάθεση) that was recently published in the edited volume “In memoriam Professor Elias Krispis: Contributions to the Science of Law and International Relations” (ΑΙΝΟΣ ΜΝΗΜΗΣ ΚΑΘΗΓΗΤΟΥ ΗΛΙΑ ΚΡΙΣΠΗ: Συμβολές στην Επιστήμη του Δικαίου και των Διεθνών Σχέσεων) by Sakkoulas Publications.
