Integrity and Suitability in the Financial Sector

The «Integrity and Suitability in the Financial Sector – Cyprus and U.K. perspectives» seminar was held on Wednesday June 10th at European University Cyprus in conjunction with Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments of U.K. (CISI).  Over 85 participants vividly participated in the event; people form the industry, students and alumni of European University Cyprus also benefited of 1.5hrs worth of CPD.
Guest speaker Tim Brown from CISI (Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments of U.K.) talked about the shift of the management control in this industry towards integrity focused and tailored approach. The debate had a focus on regulatory objectives, senior management integrity, appropriate systems& controls, competent employees, and suitability and appropriateness, communicating with clients; good and bad practices and the FCA Finalized Guidance FG 15/1.

The event was coordinated by Dr. Simona Mihai Yiannaki, Associate professor at EUC, who introduced the speakers and the unique benefits of a truly internationalized and professional qualified bachelor programme: Finance and Investment BBA at EUC.

Dr. Alexandros Apostolides, Chairperson of the Department of Accounting Economics and Finance introduced the concept of trust in this industry, while Petros Florides, Chartered FCSI, Co-founder, President CISI National Advisory Council Cyprus presented the CISI organization activities and goals in Cyprus.

The organizers would like to thank all participants for taking part to this event, which is part of a series of lectures dedicated to this industry.
