CESMATSE – Center for Sustainable Management of Tourism, Sport & Events
Inter-Disciplinary Research Center – “Serving the Economy, the Society and the Environment”
The Center for Sustainable Management of Tourism, Sport and Events is a cross-disciplinary research unit, within the Business School’s Department of Management and Marketing, committed to the advancement of knowledge and dissemination of sustainable practices in the tourism, sport and events sectors. It was established in July 2011 in an effort to ignite interest in, and provide stewardship to the adoption and implementation of sustainable practices by tourist, sport and event organizations. To do so, cutting-edge research is undertaken followed by applied research to the industry, consultancy, training, and community involvement.
To conduct and disseminate research on the sustainable management of tourism, sport and events as well as provide consultancy for organizations operating in these industries.
CESMATSE aims to provide a common space for advancement of scholarship in the areas of tourism, sport and events. For this reason, an interdisciplinary approach is adopted by the Center in investigating these distinct but interrelated lines of inquiry in order to derive sound implications for the sustainable management of tourist, sport and event organizations. The Center conducts and disseminates cutting-edge research in high quality outlets such as international conferences, refereed journals and applied research projects.
CESMATSE aims to offer consultancy to local organizations by providing innovative marketing and management solutions to business, community and government organizations dedicated to the delivery of tourism, hospitality, sport, event, and leisure services and products. The Center is also able to educate and train executives, and function as a think tank and informational resource for those involved in the tourism, hospitality, sport and event industries.

Cyprus Economic Observatory
The Cyprus Economic Observatory is the online portal of the Department of Accounting, Economics and Finance of the Ioannis Gregoriou School of Business Administration. The online portal was established under the commitment of the European University Cyprus to disseminate more broadly the high quality research that focuses on issues relating to Cyprus.
The aim of the online portal is to act a focal point were academic research, economic policy and mass communication interact in order to provide fresh insights to all fields. Research that remained “locked-up” in the world of academia and does not percolate to society might lose its impact; likewise societal decision making not being informed through academic discourse might lead a nation to misadventures.
