INCOMING STAFF FOR TEACHING AND/OR TRAINING

European University Cyprus receives an increasing number of staff mobility requests from other universities, inquiring about training or teaching visits at our institution. These requests may be directed to a specific department or received through the Erasmus Office. The decision to accept or decline a staff training or teaching visitor lies with the department concerned, based on their discretion.

The hosting department holds the responsibility of organizing a program that aligns with the visitor’s interests. Planning the program and hosting the visit requires a significant time commitment.

Interested Visitors should:

  1. Visit the EUC website (Our People – European University Cyprus at euc.ac.cy) and identify the faculty/department you wish to visit.
  2. Contact the relevant person within the faculty/department to initiate a discussion regarding common teaching, research, or training interests.
  3. Once the dates of the visit have been agreed upon, the Teaching Program should be prepared, outlining the specific activities and objectives of the visit.
  4. After receiving the confirmed Teaching Program, an invitation letter from the host faculty/department will be sent to the visitor via email.

Eligibility:

  1. Visiting staff must be employed by an Erasmus partner institution of European University Cyprus with which there is a specific agreement for Staff Mobility.
  2. Financial support for the visit should be provided by the visitor’s home institution.
  3. Visitors should ensure they have adequate medical insurance coverage during their stay in Cyprus.
  4. It is important to note that all arrangements for the visit must be made at least a semester prior to the intended visit.
OUTGOING STAFF FOR TEACHING

Erasmus+ offers a great opportunity for academic staff to teach in one of our partner institutions.  Teaching mobility can only be undertaken to another HEI which holds an ECHE (Erasmus+ Higher Education Charter) and with which EUC holds an Erasmus+ Inter-institutional Agreement.  It provides an opportunity to combine a teaching visit and also meet with our outgoing students during their exchange and address any issues that may arise.

 Facts:
  1. Travel must take place between 1st July and 30th September (of the following year).
  2. The duration of the activity can be from 2 days to 2 months, excluding travel
  3. The teaching activity must comprise a minimum of 8 hours of teaching per week (or any lower period of stay)
  4. The mobility activity should be carried out in any Program Country different from the country of residence.
  5. Only full-time faculty should apply
  6. Priority will be given to applicants that have never participated in the Program
  7. An Erasmus inter-institutional agreement should be in place with the Host University.
  8. Candidates should submit a request for Erasmus leave to the HR Department through Exelsys, well in advance.

INTERNATIONAL MOBILITY

The Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility Program

The Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility Program supports the mobility cooperation with non-EU countries. Only institutions from Program countries (i.e. EU countries) are eligible to submit applications for international mobility and if approved will be able to grant inbound and outbound mobility to/from Partner countries (i.e. non-EU countries).

Important Notes
  1. Duration of the program: 24-36 months
  2. Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) should be able to organize their first international mobility flow in August.
  3. Mobility can be both incoming and outgoing and funding comes from the EU budget for external cooperation
  4. All non-EU country institutions must be HEIs (accredited by the relevant national accreditation body) and have signed inter-institutional agreements (IIA) with their EU country partners before the mobility takes place
  5. As the HEIs in non-EU countries do not hold an Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE), the inter-institutional agreements for international mobility have been adapted in order to include the principles of the Charter
  6. All non-EU country HEIs must have a PIC number
  7. Non-EU countries are referred to as Partner Countries. EU countries are referred to as Program countries.

Mobility Duration
  • students for studies: 2 to 12 months
  • students for traineeship: 2 to 12 months, (eligible for recent graduates, doctoral mobility)
  • staff mobility: 5 days to 2 months, “days of travel” are extra (for teaching mobility 8 hours teaching per week).

Funding Rules
  • Outgoing student mobility: €700 per month
  • Incoming students: €850 per month
  • Outgoing staff mobility: €180 per day
  • Incoming staff mobility: €160 per day
for travel costs and depending on the distance (the Distance calculator must be used) from €180 to €1500 per participant

International Dimension of ΚΑ131 Action

The International Dimension of ΚΑ131 Action in the Erasmus+ 2021-2027

The international attempt of KA131 allows EUC to use the available funds of the program for financing International Mobility activities, according to the university’s internationalization strategy and according to the specific needs of students and staff, without being limited to any study cycle and without geographical restrictions.

Financing mobility activities to Partner Countries through Action KA131 entails the use up to max 20% of the available KA131 funds for International Mobility (Regions 1-4 and 6-13).

Interested applicants should follow the same application conditions related to each mobility scheme of the program and inform the Erasmus Office via email accordingly, 4 months prior to the mobility activity due date.

The capacity of students who can be funded is limited and therefore the choice of who will be accepted will be determined by internal requirements of the Erasmus Office.
